On April 15, many students at Spencer will be taking part in the ‘We Are Silent’ Campaign and will be taking a vow of silence for part – or all – of the day. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness and funds for people whose rights are oppressed and who are silenced in both Canada and the world. Spencer students are staying silent to help to promote human rights in both Canada and the globe. We are staying silent for those students who don’t come to school for fear of being bullied, for a child who is denied a right to education because they are a female, or for those children living in conflict zones and who are unable to attend school. Currently, my homeroom and Mrs. Salvati’s homerooms are taking part in this campaign, along with members of the Me to We Club, and other homeroom classes. If you wish to pledge our Spencer team and support the work that Free the Children does in ensuring that all children have access to education and know their rights then please donate to this worthy cause by clicking here.
As for assignments this week, here it goes:
Eng 8 – continue to read your novel and respond in your journals. Do the character analysis chart.
Socials 8 – Mind map on ‘Feudalism’; Medieval manor sketch and response to the question: how did people in the Middle Ages interact with and alter their environments?
Eng 9 Pre-AP: due to so many students away today for the concert, the Shakespeare Presentations have been postponed until Monday (no exceptions). They will have some time available on Friday to work with their groups. Word of the week: ‘human rights’.
